No photo but this find by Alex T shows that both the Racine Legion and the Toledo Maroons of 1923 wore numbers on the backs of their jerseys. Numbers have been added in white despite the font of the numbers not being known. Based on PFA information, the same numbers are being added to the Maroons' 1922 uniforms, as well.

1920 & 1924 Rock Island Independents

A photo originally thought to be containing Jim Thorpe of the 1924 Rock Island Independents was actually from a 11/7/20 game between the Independents and the Decatur Staleys. We are removing the 'black jersey' combo for the '24 Independents. We are revising the multi-sleeve-stripe green jersey combo for the 1920 Independents.

The 1920 green jersey depicted in the photo will be adjusted to have the correct number of stripes and proper spacing between them. The helmets are being darkened. Numbers and stripes are no white but rather an off-white shade, perhaps khaki/gold.
