2012 Minnesota Vikings

Made the number font more rounded as they appear to be.  Change wasn't necessary for 2006-11, as at the size of our graphics, it wouldn't show up.

1939-40 Cleveland Rams

After discussion in the forum regarding Rams helmets from 1939 through '45, Tim and Bill decided to change just the 1939 and 1940 seasons to gold from yellow, based upon, among other images, this picture in an advertisement of Parker Hall from 1939.  Debating about the various years, Tim had this to say:

It's my opinion that 1939 and 1940 were definitely gold. 1941 was blue. 1942 (???), 1944 and 1945 were definitely yellow. The helmets in the Cleveland papers for 39 and 40 had a shiny appearance. So I would go with gold for those two seasons. The helmets after the 1943 layoff were yellow. The youtube newsreel from the 1944 game at the Bears would indicate a definite yellow as does the 1945 NFL Title Game newsreel as well as pics from the Plain Dealer.

So:
1939 gold
1940 gold
1941 blue
1942 gold (but NOT definite)
1944 yellow
1945 yellow

1952 Dallas Texans

Corrected the sleeve logo to show the logo correctly with the "T" not part of the Texas panhandle, but within the state borders, as depicted in this Tony Canadeo photograph.  Note: Also implemented addition of white/white combo which was confirmed this past summer, yet never sent for inclusion.  If you have any further information or proof which led to this change, please let us know.

1960-64 Denver Broncos

Based on a couple photographs we've come across a couple of new early Denver Broncos preseason combos.  The first one is possibly from an August 17, 1963 game against San Diego, however we haven't satisfactorily proven it is definitively from that game.  It was mentioned in the November 16 Uni Watch.  The second one, as mentioned in the Uni Watch ticker today, December 10, 2012, was submitted to UW by Tom Jacobsen and was from the 1975 book Barely Audible: A History of the Denver Broncos.  Without being absolutely positive which year they wore either of these two combos, we are temporarily adding them as an 'unknown' graphic to the bottom of the Denver Broncos' team page.

1935-36 New York Giants

After yesterday's change of the collar color on the red 1934-35 Giants' jerseys, we decided to assume the collar on the 1935-36 white Giants' jersey should also be changed from red to blue, although absent of any actual proof.

1934 Cincinnati Reds

From Tim Brulia:

Based on this picture from December Heritage magazine auctions:

"From my prior research at the LOC, I was able to confirm that - contrary to the narrative - the Gunners never wore this jersey for their three games in the NFL. They wore the white cannon jersey for all 3 of their NFL games."

"This is Swede's profile on PFR. While it does list him as playing for the Reds in 1933, it shows him playing one game for the Packers in 1934 and 3 for the Gunners. Hmm."

"I was unable to find any game action photos for the 33 Reds. The Cincinnati Enquirer featured several posed pics of the Reds in their red and white helmets and red jerseys with white numerals. For now, I will stand behind those unis as what they wore until I/we are able to uncover actual and clear game shots."

The jersey in the auction is obviously red with yellow numbers. Off the top, I know of two games where we found pics of the Reds; the early season game at Pittsburgh, where they are clearly wearing red jerseys with white numbers, and their last game before folding, the game in Philadelphia (Phila. Inquirer), where the Eagles edged the Reds, 64-0. The Reds are definitely wearing very dark (red) jerseys and pants, with numbers that were almost as dark as the jerseys. This pic would seem to indicate that the Reds did - in fact - switch from white numbers to yellow numbers somewhere along the way. As a side note, the Reds folded and the NFL was able to get the Gunners, an independent pro team, to agree to fill out the remaining Reds schedule for '34. The Gunners then in 1935, resumed their status as an independent pro team."

In conclusion, no changes to the 1933 or '35 Reds, but for the 1934 Reds, we are replacing th all red uniform with a red uniform with yellow numbers.
