1967-69 New Orleans Saints

Made following adjustments to the Saints after discussion spurred by mention in August 24 Uni Watch column about a DIY project which referenced the "skinny numbers" and the "fat numbers" worn by early Saints.

1967 - Removed single-white-helmet-stripe combos.
        - Replaced them with thin-number-font combos.
        - stripes appear to be same for both jersey sets.
        - will use thin font for match-up singles with note about other font
1968 - made all jerseys thin-number-font
        - any differences in sleeve stripe size to indiscernible to do anything about it.
1969 - adjusted sleeve stripe pattern on 1-color numbers black and white mesh jerseys
        - widened sleeve stripes on other jerseys

1969, 72-78 Washington Redskins

Following up on the last update, Larry Schmitt emailed us again:

"...One thing about the '69 - '78 Redskins though...the sleeve stripes on the burgundy jerseys should have the wider yellow stripes as you have on the '70 - '71 images. The '69 and '73 - '78 all have equal width stripes. "

"... I haven't noticed any evidence of two styles of striping like they had on the white jerseys from '74 - '78."

 Changes made:

NEW 1969; all new singles; sock pattern to match 70-71. Burgundy jersey sleeve stripes changed to match 70-71.
1970-71 socks as is - no change. Sleeves as is - no change.

1929 Orange Tornadoes

After additional research, updated the existing graphic to show that the Tornadoes wore letters instead of numbers to identify players, and the "O" on the one player pictured was the letter "O" as in his jersey letter, and not "O" for "Orange"

1940 Chicago Bears

Based on research by BD Sullivan, Bill Schaefer, Tim Brulia and others, it was determined that the majority of the Bears went sockless for most games, however, that in two games against the Cardinals, there were a couple of players wearing socks.  It is believed that Bears did not wear socks for the majority of the games, and that probably no players wore socks at all for the 73-0 NFL Championship game against the Redskins.  Therefore we have decided to go with both on the yearly graphic and a single graphic with the comment that "some players wore socks in some games" for all games.

from BD Sullivan:

9/25 @ Cardinals
The three Bears in the one photograph all have different looks(!): #24 Frank Bausch is wearing striped socks (DARK BLUE-orange-DARK BLUE-orange-DARK BLUE); #11 Joe Maniaci is wearing Dark Blue (?) socks; #71 (?) is wearing just white socks.

10/13 vs. Lions
Bears' Ray Bray and Lee Artoe are both wearing white socks only

10/20 vs. Dodgers
All players in the photos are wearing white socks only

11/10 @ Lions
All players in the photo are wearing white socks only

11/17 @ Redskins
Bears' Bob Swisher is being thrown a pass and is wearing white socks only

11/24 vs. Rams
In an admittedly poor photo, #51 is wearing only white socks

12/1 vs. Cardinals
Bears' Mihal and Plasman are both wearing striped sock

1994 San Francisco 49ers

Corrected error to 1994 San Francisco 49ers team page, where incorrect combo was listed for Week 3 game vs. the Los Angeles Rams, based on email from Jeremy Foster <CUBS2B23@aol.com>:

First off, I really love the site you guys have.  As a huge 49er fan I was looking at the 1994 game by game uni breakdown you had and noticed that you had the incorrect jersey for Week 3.  Although the game was in Los Angeles, the Niners' wore the red throwbacks and the Rams wore their yellow throwbacks.
