1985-1995 Philadelphia Eagles

Slightly modified the number font and outline based on the following email from Chris Fraleigh:
I would like to bring to your attention a small, overlooked detail in the 1995 Philadelphia Eagles Uniforms that most people have not noticed. As I am sure you know, the Eagles wore essentially the same uniforms from 1985 to 1995. However, during that 1995 season (the year before they switched their colors over to teal) slight modifications were made to the number design on the jerseys. This is most evident in the white "away" uniforms from that year. The black borders around the numbers were made much thinner than the uniforms from the previous 9 years. In addition, the Kelly Green coloring on said numbers is lighter/brighter than in the seasons prior. Also, the numbers on the shoulders are thinner and smaller than they were before. If you compare pictures/footage of the Eagles from the 1995 season with the 9 seasons prior, this becomes evident. I hope this information helps.
Due to the size of our graphics the modifications are very slight and almost imperceptible.  In the case of the 1995 Eagles, it was a matter of only 1 pixel.  We are unconvinced of any color variation between the 1985-94 Eagles and the 1995 Eagles, but will continue to research the matter.

This email also inspired a GUD Tweak: The Teal 1996 Philadelphia Eagles.

1976 San Francisco 49ers

Confirmed that the red combo was only worn in the preseason, hence the 'Preseason Only' tag added to the yearly image.  Also corrected NOB font to a sans serif font from a seriffed font.

Email from Tim to Bill:
When I was tipped off by PSD on the506 forums regarding the fact that the 49ers wore white for the entire season in 1976, I dug into the newspaperarchive database to confirm. And, yes, the Niners did go white for the full regular season in '76. The change was made to our WAH page (added to the footnote indicating teams wearing white for a full season).
Also, to confirm that the Niners did wear red in the preseason, that was also done. Of the 6 preseason games, the Niners wore red on two occasions; 8/21 against the Chargers in Honolulu and 9/4 against the Rams at the Coliseum. The other 4 preseason games the Niners wore white.
ALSO, the Niners NOB's were sans serifed as opposed to serifed as we currently have it.
So to sum up, these changes need to be made to the 1976 49ers display:

  • The "Worn in preseason only" tag placed over the red combo
  • The NOB's need to be converted to the sans serif format on both jerseys.

1955 Green Bay Packers

Based on this YouTube video of 1995 Los Angeles Rams...

...we determined that Packers should have both the combo with the white stripes and numbers and the yellow.  They wore the "white trim" combo for final three games.  And also that for Week 6 Baltimore wore blue instead of red.  Changes made to WWWW and will eventually be implemented on applicable team pages.  Note: this change modifies earlier change on XXXXXXXXXXXXX that went from "white trim" combo for whole season to "yellow trim combo" for whole season.

1994 Seattle Seahawks

Added #92 helmet decal for Mike Frier to the helmet decals page.  Frier was paralyzed in a car accident on December 1, and his teammate Lamar Smith was charged with DUI vehicular assault in the accident.  It was definitely worn on December 24 for final game, was not worn on December 4, and we are unsure of the games from December 11 & 18.

1934 Pittsburgh Pirates

While doing research for the Uni Watch article "Inside The Steelers Throwbacks" we uncovered that the actual 1934 Pirates black uniforms with the yellow NW stripes were smaller than the black NW stripes on the yellow uniforms, and that the black combo without the stripes wasn't worn.

2012 Buffalo Bills

Modified again slightly. (removed overlap of sock from sanitary sock, even though picture shows the overlap)  In this close up picture, it looks like the top 'sock' isn't even really a sock at all, it's more of a "sleeve" that just covers part of the shin and doesn't even go over the foot at all.  Weird.
